2017 Cellar Club Tempranillo
Tempranillo is native to northern Spain and widely cultivated as far south as La Mancha. The two major regions that grow Tempranillo are Rioja, in north central Spain, and Ribera del Duero, which lies a little farther to the south. Our Tempranillo is grown right here in Paso Robles on the Patricia Diane Vineyard by Eberle Winery partners and owners Dick and Claudia Woodland. This wine has many dimensions with aromas and flavors of tobacco, dried sage, black plum, brambleberry, dry on the palate with mouthwatering acid with notable tannins that you can really chew on.
Eberle's Tempranillo with its acid and tannins that you can chew calls for a dish that has some fat, acid, and spice to it. A wine perfectly paired with braised short ribs in a spicy tomato sauce, a rustic wild game stew served over polenta or a tomato gratin lasagna.
