2023 Heritage Reserve Syrah
A true expression of Paso Robles winemaking legacy, the 2023 Reserve Steinbeck Syrah is sourced from the historic Steinbeck Vineyard, home to some of the oldest Syrah vines in the United States. These vines, propagated from the original Estrella Clone brought to Paso Robles by Gary Eberle, produce wines of exceptional depth, complexity, and distinction. While beautifully expressive in its youth, the 2023 Reserve Steinbeck Syrah has the structure and intensity to age gracefully for 10-15 years, allowing its layers to evolve into an even more profound expression of Paso Robles terroir. 150 cases produced
Tasting Notes
The wine opens with a seductive bouquet of blackberry compote, ripe blueberry, and crushed violets, layered with exotic notes of white pepper, smoked meats, and black olive tapenade. As it unfolds on the palate, rich flavors of dark plum, espresso, and baking spices are balanced by a backbone of savory earth, graphite, and a whisper of eucalyptus. Aged in carefully selected barrels, the wine showcases a refined oak presence, imparting nuances of vanilla bean, toasted cedar, and dark cocoa.
Food Pairings
This bold yet elegant Syrah pairs exquisitely with slow-braised short ribs, rosemary-crusted lamb chops, wild mushroom risotto, or a charcuterie board featuring aged Manchego and smoked gouda.
