2017 Up Shiraz
Upon first sip and smell the 2017 Up Shiraz is reminiscent of a log cabin in the mountains. Enticing aromas of smoke from an old wood fireplace, intermingles with hints of cedar, tobacco and a touch of wild Blackberry. This wine has plenty of structure with medium tannins that begs for fare that has a bit of fat and spice.
Thinking of what you might have on hand or in your freezer, a frozen tray of enchiladas with spicy red sauce and plenty of melted jack cheese, grilled Italian sausage or a spicy Linguiça with a side of whole grain mustard for dipping, or pan roasted Brussel sprouts sprinkled with goat cheese and drizzled with a balsamic glaze. Of course, if you are not in the mountains, you can always enjoy this wine curled up by the fire while relaxing at home.
